The debut EP from New York City-based Raffaella shares its name with the title track ‘Ballerina’, a delicate pop tune full of subversive lyrics and attention to detail. Her intentional nods to the styles of Lorde and Frank Ocean come through; although it is the bouncy, bright waltz-like chorus that stands out as the star of the show. This track builds on the groundwork she created with previous singles such as ‘Balaclava’ and ‘Bruce Willis’, which demonstrate a light-heartedness combined with an awareness of exactly how to craft a great piece of pop.
